A Bit About Me
Outside of the newsroom, you can find me all over town, if you know where to look. Born and raised in the Bay Area, I love to spend spring afternoons out in the sun, but hole up indoors with a cup of cocoa when winter comes around. If the sun is out, I'm out, be it playing soccer, walking my dog, Rosie, or getting ice cream with my friends. I spend many an October Friday night in the bleachers, playing flute in Carlmont's pep band and cheering on the football team.
If I'm not outside, I'm likely doing one of three things: homework, reading, or baking. Unfortunately, more often than not, it's homework or studying at the very least. But when I have the time, there's nothing I love more than to get lost in a good fantasy novel or whip up a batch of cookies - yes, food is absolutely my love language.
And if I'm really nowhere to be found, I'm probably off on an adventure with my family. We love to travel; it doesn't really matter where. We've been going camping for as long as I can remember, touring the states in our travel trailer to visit national parks. In recent years, we've also begun to branch out, exploring Canada, Spain, and Norway.
Journey to Journalism
Looking back at my childhood, I realize the truly enormous impact that words have had on my life. It all started in first grade, with our class camp-out reading day. We covered the desks with tarps and set up blankets and pillows, then spent the day reading away in our make-shift tents. I remember being so excited for that Monday, because reading was my thing. Always has been and always will be.
As I've gotten older, my love for words has remained, though it's taken different forms, from reading and writing to giving a speech at my 8th-grade promotion ceremony. So it's no surprise that, come sophomore year, I signed up for Media Arts, my school's introductory course to journalism. And there, I found a new home. I fell in love with the community, the process, and all of the ways it made me better.
Starting out as a staff writer for our online publication, I became an editor intern in the spring of 2025, a full editor in the fall of 2025, an editor mentor in the spring of 2026, and will be stepping into the role of managing editor for the 2026-2027 school year. In addition to my work for Scot Scoop, I also serve as a content producer for our print magazine, The Highlander.
