Multimedia

Multimedia is an important part of any good piece of journalism. It increases audience engagement and interactivity, and should be used to convey information that cannot be done in the body of the article.

No Kings Protest Audio

This news-style podcast was part of our No Kings package and features interviews from protest attendees, booths, and more. JEA/NSMC awarded it an "Excellent" in Podcast at the 2025 Fall Nashville Convention. The package also contains shorter audios of parts of on-site interviews.

National Parks: Three W's

This infographic is part of my article on "America's best idea." I decided to use flip hover boxes to convey this information because I loved how Doug Mitchell, the executive director of the Glacier National Park Conservancy, explained everything, but the quote was too long to incorporate into the story body. Instead, I broke it down into these three categories, hopefully making it more interesting and interactive while still getting important information across.

National Parks Audio

This audio is located at the top of my "America's best idea" article and serves as a condensed version of the full feature. I explain the issue and include interview snippets for those who don't want to read the full-length article.

Homecoming Assembly Photo Gallery

This photo gallery is part of my article about the Gru-themed Homecoming Assembly in 2024. In my article, I talk about the process of preparing for the assembly and the rehearsal that the groups have to do beforehand. In an effort to match this idea, I thought it would be cool to include photos from before the live performances, when teams and clubs were still warming up. This gallery contains photos from both preparation time and during the actual assembly, featuring groups like the cheer team, the dance team, and even the surprise teacher dance number.
